The sweet and spicy taste of strawberries make it a very versatile snack, and it can be enjoyed in many different delightful ways.

The most popular way remains fresh and on its own, or with a generous serving of cream, but some combinations of other tastes make it even more delightful and popular to enjoy.

A decadent combination you will not regret is berries and chocolate. Dip fresh strawberries in melted dark chocolate for a special treat. The tanginess of the strawberries and bitterness of the dark chocolate will add to a taste sensation.

Most of us are aware that balsamic and strawberries are a match made in heaven. We recommend that you reduce the balsamic in a sauce pan by bringing it to the boil, then simmer it over low heat until it has a syrupy consistency. To make a rejuvenating strawberry lemonade, purée strawberries in a blender and pour into a pitcher with lemon juice, water and a touch of sugar. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh mint sprigs.

For the most refreshing smoothie, freeze whole strawberries, grapes, bananas and any other of your favourite fruit. Blend with 100% orange juice, adding just enough to make a frozen purée. Garnish with a mint leaf and serve.
