Strawberries are excellent when it comes to boosting our immune system. Helping us fight disease and restore our health. And we know that red berries are believed to be cancer-fighting fruits. Strawberries are rich in vitamins and minerals, and since they have very few calories, you can easily combine them with your weight-control programmes.

Widely considered a superfood, strawberries are high in vitamin, mineral, fibre and antioxidants to protect you against free radicals. Even the seeds are healthy as they are rich in Omega 3. The fruits and the leaves are used for treatment of a wide variety of conditions, ranging from arthritis to fever, intestinal and kidney ailments to blood purification and anaemia. You could also use strawberry juice to soothe sunburn and skin blemishes, and even whiten teeth.

Strawberry leaves are rich in iron and vitamin C and excellent when drawn as a tea, which can be used to treat diarrhoea, kidney problems, throat infections, digestive upsets and relieve gout.  So next time you pare a batch of fresh strawberries, dry the leaves to draw tea from. Or plant your own and have leaves all year round for medicinal use.
